GP Letters

Important Information about GP Letters

We have recently received an increasing number of requests for letters such as:

  • “To whom it may concern” statements
  • Confirmation of circumstances not recorded in medical notes (e.g. issues at school, housing, financial or social/relationship matters).

Please note: GPs can only provide letters based on information documented in your medical records.

This means we are unable to write letters about issues we have not directly assessed or that are not part of your clinical record.

If a third party requires medical information, they should request a formal medical report. This request must be accompanied by your signed consent, in line with data protection regulations.

We appreciate your understanding. This ensures that any medical letters we provide are accurate, evidence-based, and appropriate.
